The Teardrop

The Teardrop Memorial

tear-drop-1

Did anyone out there even know this existed? It is absolutely beautiful! I had never heard of this before. Why didn’t the press report it nationwide? This is located in New Jersey – Donated to us from Russia.

The “TEAR DROP” was made and installed by the Russian Government to honor those who died on 9/11…it was their statement against Terrorism. It was dedicated at the Northeast corner of Bayonne Peninsula in New Jersey on September 11, 2006, the fifth anniversay of the 9/11 attacks on the United States. The ‘Tear Drop’ is lined up with the Statue Of Liberty and the sight of the former World Trade Center.

The names of every person killed on 9/11 are inscribed on the base.

The walkway is made of hand carved stones.

  1. Absolutely…Why did we not hear about this? And we wonder why our reputation is in a shambles worldwide. Where is our gratitude? This is so beautiful…Yes, Thank-You Russia!

  2. Hi Barb…this is unbelievable. It should have been broadcast on every national news program…over and over again. I cannot understand why it was placed 2 1/2 years ago and I never heard one word about it! (Sigh)…thanks for commenting!

  3. I wonder how it is supposed to “ruin our standing in the world” that some individuals in the U.S. are oblivious to the goings on here. I have heard of this several times before today, but this is the first time I had seen the pictures. It isn’t like this is some type of secret, however. LeaAnn Rimes even performed at it according to this video.

  4. I had no idea about this before. The art is creative and the reason for which it’s there, I wish that never happened.
But anyway, I really liked this distinctive master piece.

Thanks for letting us know about this.

  13. Excellent post.

I agree with the others who noted that reporting on the empathy of others is not sensationalist enough for most media outlets. It simply doesn’t sell papers or attract viewers like fear and hatred.

JANET: Yes, too beautiful to be kept secret. Nice to see you, and thanks for commenting.

PCMEMOIRS: I’ll have to agree with Kevin and Anna. Something like this is not sensational enough to merit newsprint or air time. So sad! Thanks for stopping by.

VULCAN HAMMER: You’re very welcome…I hope many more people discover it’s existence. Please stop in any time.

ANNA: You’re absolutely right! Thanks for mentioning that i your comment. It’s time people were aware that there are equally as many kindnesses in this world as there are misdeeds! Thanks for commenting!

KEVIN: Thanks. I’m glad you pointed out the disparities in our media reports…I would love to receive a newspaper that has nothing in it except articles such as this. What a breathe of fresh air that would be! Thanks for visiting.

TILT: I would like to have the time to search for just articles as this pointing out the kindesses of others, whether it be from foreign countries and locally. I may make that my next project! Thanks for stopping in.

For I understand that there are still a lot of hard feelings toward Russia on account of the cold war era, but this was still an incredible gift that should be fully acknowledged and greatly appreciated by us all.

  32. Hi BK, nice to see you again. Sadly there are many, many people who have never heard of this gift of peace unless they have been there and/or were interested enough to learn about it. Thanks again for stopping in.

  33. Hello Steve. No, it is NOT a secret. It is standing there in New Jersey across from the Statue of Liberty for all to see and learn about. The American people don’t seem to be all that interested unfortunately.

  34. How do I get this to facebook ? Its so wonderful and beautiful and caring . Thankyou Russia

  35. Oh Lee…I do NOT do facebook. I’m sorry I can’t help you there. It is a beautiful and caring memorial. I hope you can find someone who can help you get it to facebook. Thanks for commenting!

  36. I had no idea this exsisted until today! What a wonderful and caring gift from Russia. I beleive there could never be a more appropriate memorial made anywhere for this tragedy.

  37. Hi nancy…It makes one stop and think about what a wonderful thing Russia did for our country! Especially after all the skepticism we’ve had about their country. It’s just a shame that so few people are even aware of the memorial nor who donated it out of loving kindness! Thanks for stopping in!

  38. Thank you Russia! This is a beautiful memorial and tribute. Unbelievable that this has not made headline news anywhere in the United States.

  39. Agree, it should have been published in every media. Time to tell off the media. We need good stories like this one that are important. They probably showed some car chase instead. This is a disgrace that it was not national news, important news. I’ve read that we Americans are ignorant mostly about the world and the media shares most of the blame for this. I’m angry that I’m just hearing about this today. Thank you to Russia and its people and the artist who designed it.

  40. Hi soochi! It should make us ALL angry. I am so tired of reading all the bad things on the front page and having to dig clear to the back of the paper to find anything nice (with no headline and in very small print). This, however, never even made it to our paper and, from the comments that have been left here, evidently didn’t make it in any of the other papers either. But, again, THANK YOU RUSSIA for this tribute to 911. Thanks for dropping in.

  41. I work in Manhattan. I live in NJ. I take the PATH train to the WTC site everyday. I did the design drawings for the Vertical Transportation in 7 WTC. I presently am involved with Towers 1 & 4 Vertical Transportation shop drawing review. I say that to say this, I am ashamed of myself for this is my first time hearing about something so significant as it relates to that tragic moment in american history. I am proud to be involved in the redevelopement of the site, but saddened that the news media has not given it a quarter of the attention it gave the coverage “Pandemic” in recent weeks. Judy thank you for sharing. You have touched more people than you can imaging.

  42. Thank you SO much for that, Ronnie; you have made my heart happy! On the other hand, I was absolutely amazed at how few people were aware of this…why is it we hear all the bad things and rarely the good? Things like this are either NEVER reported, or you have to scour the last section, last page of the newspaper to find it. Thank you for your kind comments!

  43. That memorial is awesome. The reason it wasn’t announced was because the president at the time (Bush) hated the Russian president, and so would not let it be nationally announced.

  44. Hi jyk…I appreciate your comment, but am wondering whether or not this is simply your opinion or if you have concrete evidence that it is fact. Just askin’.

  45. This is a great gift! I am shocked we have never hear anything about this. THANK YOU RUSSIA! Your gift has touched ours heart.

I actually want to use a picture of this for magazine cover to honor 9/11 here in Phoenix Arizona but I can’t find any pictures I can use. All the ones I find are random photos I can’t get permission to use. Does anyone have one I can use? I can put a thank you to you in the magazine. I plan on listing a web address as well so people can learn more about this memorial. Can anyone help me? 602-233-8770
