In Remembrance

help a child in need with brain cancer prayers needed

To  those of you who have been following 13-year-old Nick Nischan’s (See “Prayer Circle” on right hand side bar) battle with brain cancer, I am extremely saddened to post this email I received from his father this morning.

“Nick Nischan won his battle and finished his race victoriously this morning at home surrounded by his family. He finished in peace and with strength. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Please keep the Nischan family in your prayers at this time. Thank you for your prayers; they have truly brought us through.

Love, Tim”

  3. Thank you so much simplyjacy and NanjoDogz…I have grown to love this family as my own and so very sad. He has gone to our Lord who will welcome him with open arms. Nick believed so much in life everlasting. He is at peace now.

  4. This is very sad news…but he is at home and happy now. No more pain and suffering. He was a very special and brave young man.

  5. Yes, very sad, Barb. Not totally unexpected as he had a very bad week and was loosing strength rapidly over that past 2 or 3 weeks. His mother said he was very brave and trusted in the Lord. The family was ready to let him go Home, but are deeply saddened by his departure. I’m glad he was without pain and peaceful at the last.

  6. Although this is a sad story, it is comforting to know he was at home and with his family in his final hours. I can’t imagine being alone at that time—

  7. Yes, Maureen…that’s the way he wanted it. He told his family after his last brain surgery that he wanted to go home and stay there. They had hospice to help them through and said they were a Godsend! Even at such a young age, his religious background allowed him to be at peace with the outcome. Thanks for your comment, Maureen!

  14. This is so, so sad, Judy. Even after a long illness, it is hard to come to grips with the loss of a child. Thank you for telling us about him. My thoughts go out to him and his family.
