About

I have been sewing since I was 7 years old and learned on my grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. I also knit and crochet and do many other crafts as well. My husband of 48 years and I have run our own sewing machine repair business for the last 40 years. We know sewing machines inside and out and I will be glad to offer any hints and/or advise to you concerning problems you may be having with your machine or your sewing problems. I’ve always said, “If I don’t know, I will find out!” and that is my promise to you.

I am happy to make you a custom one with a scarf any two colors you like, same price as the one in her blog.

You have my email now, shoot me a line and we can go find a cutie pie snowman just for you!

I will have a few more up in a few days on Etsy, otherwise!

  6. I just happened upon your site. I have a Viking machine that all of a sudden quit picking up the bobin thread. any idea what is wrong and if it’s fixable? I have been using the machine my mother gave me (a very old singer) that only has a straight stitch on it since this happened. I know I should take it in to a shop, but I want a shop like yours where people know machines rather than trying to sell you a new one. What city/state are you in? I’m in Portland Oregon

  7. Hi Barb…thanks for commenting. You are a tad bit far for a home service call unless you want to send me an airplane ticket to Portland from Columbus, Ohio…LOL. First, let me suggest a few things you can check. The first thing you should do is clean out all the lint from your machine. That requires removing the bobbin and bobbin case. Then, ONLY if you have a manual to follow, you should remove the hook and race cover. No book? Leave the hook and race in place and blow out the lint and small pieces of thread with canned air available at most stores; usually in the “tech” department, i.e. computers, printers, etc. Then, remove the needle and replace it with a new one (I’m sure you know how, but be sure the flat side of the needle is towards the back if the machine threads from front to back or put the flat side of the needle to the inside (toward your right hand) of the machine if it threads from left to right. Even a slightly bent needle will cause the machine to either not pick up the bobbin thread or skip stitches. This will eliminate the most elementary problems and should always be done before you take your machine to a shop. IF this does not solve the problem, send another comment or a message and I have just one more thing to try. It will not FIX your machine, but will let me know what the problem is. My gut feeling is that you’ve knocked it out of alignment and should be looked at by a professional. You’ll have to shop around for a good one. Let them know, up front, that you are NOT interested in purchasing a new machine. An alignment should not run over about $50; expensive, but you have a GOOD machine and it would be well worth it! Let me know how it goes!

  10. Hello,

I recently came upon your website and I must say that you have done a great job and noticed we have similar topics like Food and Drinks. I would like to know if I can add a link to your website on the resource page of our website MexicoVacationTravels.com. I am sure that my visitors might get something out of your work.

Please let me know if this is OK. Then send me the title and URL you want me to use for your link. And also do you think my website is worthy to be listed on yours? I can send you the details on my next reply. I look forward to your reply. Take care.
